This athletic homeowner in Thornlands wanted to upgrade his backyard by installing a lap pool.

Not to compromise on his existing backyard, he consulted Just Add Water Pool to design and build him a narrow 10m x 2m lap pool. A lap pool is essentially just what it sounds like: a pool designed for swimming laps.

While traditional pools generally take on a round or square shape, lap pools are very long and narrow – the ideal shape for swimming laps back and forth in the water.

This sleek shape leads the lap pool to stand out from traditional pools. While lap pools have a distinct shape, there are many ways that you can customise the pool to fit your needs, so the definition of a “lap pool” is really quite flexible.

Once the plans were approved and all necessary permits obtained, construction begun by setting out the layout of the pool.

The Just Add Water Pools team then mark out where fencing, paved areas and landscaping will go. Next, the site was excavated to the appropriate depth within the markings that the team has made. Steel reinforcement wire is placed both vertically and horizontally throughout the excavated site at the appropriate depths for your particular pool.

This is used to reinforce the shell and ensure that it will be able to withstand the pressure exerted by the thousands of litres of water it will eventually be filled with.

After

The result was an amazing lap pool that the owner and his family loves to use as they went with the mineral pool option.

A mineral pool adds additional minerals to your water, usually including magnesium chloride, sodium chloride, and potassium chloride.

These minerals work together to keep your pool clean and help battle algae and bacteria, among others.

Using the mineral systems reduces your need for chlorine by about 50%. This lap pool was fitted with the latest pool innovations from robotic pool cleaning, lighting, heating, ecofriendly products.
